In Memory of Thomas R. Ropchock (June 29, 1950 - November 7, 2001) In November of 2001, twenty year veteran of the department and Captain at the time, Tom Ropchock, passed away following a battle with cancer. Tom served the Wellington Fire District from firefighter, lieutenant, to Captain before passing. During his career, Tom was very active in the training program, as well as the North Central Firefighters Association. Tom was usually the first officer to take a new firefighter “under his wing” to help them adapt and feel comfortable in the department. The respect for him as a person and as an officer is still felt around the department. His leadership and sense of humor helped him stand out in the group and is greatly missed today. | |
